After producing programmes with the BBC, CNN and Talkback Productions, Richard Farmbrough set up Reef in 2003. Starting out with just one commission, 'Model Gardens', for UKTV, and based in a small office with one edit suite, the company has gone from strength to strength.
Just six years later we now produce over 100 hours of television a year and have a dedicated post production floor with 8 edit suites working at full throttle. Reef's turnover has gone from 2 million in 2007 to 4 million in 2008, doubling our turnover in one year alone. We now employ around 50 people, of which 12 are full time staff.
Reef has also diversified from making primarily lifestyle shows to a varied slate which includes BBC One prime time documentary 'In Living Memory' presented by Dan Snow, the ITV chat show 'Suggs in the City' and a raft of arts and architecture shows for Five presented by Charlie Luxton and Ptolemy Dean. All this is alongside our strong stable of daytime popular factual shows, from Sun, Sea & Bargain Spotting, now in its 6th series, to the newest incarnation of one of our most successful brands, Chefs: Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is.
